Name Address Zip Code Email Message I am writing to you to express my concern and frustration regarding the recent policy decision made by the New York State Department of Health (NYDOH) affecting the Medicaid Pharmacy Program that prevents Medicaid patients from obtaining their oral medication through their physician dispensary. Physician dispensing is a service clinics provide patients that allows them to obtain their prescription medication onsite instead of through a pharmacy. Due to the nature of some of these medications, they may not be readily available at local pharmacies, causing extended wait times in people getting their medication. This then forces patients to receive their oral cancer medication prescriptions from a mail-order pharmacy – adversely affecting cancer patients' care by delaying time to treatment initiation and promoting the practice of unsafe management of highly complex oncology protocols by an outside entity, not the oncologist.
